PAD PRINTING MACHINERY

Technology tends to advance in fits and starts, and pad printing machinery is no different. New pad printing machinery is developed by manufacturers as either a means to overcome specific technical hurdles or in response to competitive pressures.

To understand how pad printing machinery has evolved it is best to start by examining trends in consumer product design, particularly in Europe where all pad printing machinery evolution takes place.

One of the most influential trends has been the dramatic change in the design of control panels used on new European appliances such as washing machines, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, etc.

In recent years European designers have gone away from the old, flat appliance panels that still prevail in the U.S. market to more attractive curved surfaces, with the aim of differentiating their product from those of the competition.

As a result, pad printing machinery has evolved to accommodate larger, more complex part geometries and multiple axis part conveying. For example, where it used to take multiple set-ups to print a standard washing machine panel requiring multiple colors in multiple locations, TOSH pad printing machinery can process up to 250 panels per hour in up to sixty impressions per cycle, with change-over times as low as ten minutes, all with tolerances of +- 0.01mm.
