Certain plastics require pre-treatment prior to
printing. Corona pretreatment is the preferred method.
It basically uses electricity to prepare the surface of
the plastic, increasing adhesion. The benefit of corona
is that no heat is produced, so it doesn't require
extensive guarding, and it won't change part
characteristics like gloss or texture. Flame
pre-treatment accomplishes the same thing, but requires
more complex controls and guarding.
